DR. JON S. DELLANDREA, B.A., M.Ed., Ed.D., Ph.D.

OFFICER UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO

Jon Dellandrea has been Vice-President of the University of Toronto since April 1994. He also serves as President of the University of Toronto Foundation, and is a Professor in the Division of Management and Economics at U of T's Scarborough campus and in the Rotman School of Management, as well is an Associate Senior Fellow of Massey College.

Dr. Dellandrea has had a long association with the University of Toronto as a student, an educator, and administrator. He holds a B.A. in English Literature and a master's and doctoral degree in higher education, all from the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, he was Executive Assistant to the Principal of Scarborough College and in 1975 became Associate Director of Development at the University of Toronto, a position he held for four years.

Prior to returning to the University of Toronto, Dr. Dellandrea was President of the Mount Sinai Foundation (1989-1994). He served as Vice-President, University Development, at the University of Waterloo (1983 -89) where he was also Director of Development and University Relations (I979-83).

A frequent consultant to universities and other not-for-profit institutions around the world, Dr. Dellandrea has served as development counsel to Canadian universities, colleges and arts and cultural organizations.

Dr. Dellandrea served as Chair of the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (1985-86) and was President of the Canadian Association of University Development Officers (1983-85).

An active community volunteer, Dr. Dellandrea is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for Canadian Unity, the Board of Mount Sinai Hospital and a past member of the Board of the Canadian Bureau for International Education. He has also served on the boards of numerous cultural and educational institutions and is a director of the Canadian Credit Management Foundation.

He was the 1996 recipient of the National Society of Fundraising Executive Toronto Chapter "Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award." In 1999 the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education awarded him the prestigious "Outstanding Achievement Award." In 2001 he received the Laureate Award of the Institute for Charitable Giving in the United States, the first Canadian to be honoured.

As Vice-President and Chief Advancement Officer of the University of Toronto, he leads the largest and most successful advancement effort in Canadian history, the $1billion campaign for the University of Toronto.

Dr. Dellandrea is married to Lyne Edwards, a graduate of the University of Toronto, and has two sons, Matthew of Whistler, British Columbia and Brendan, a student at the University of Toronto.
