Mr. Beaudoin, a professional association executive, has led the Council for most of his career, while at the same time serving as a director of numerous boards involved in medical, cultural and social affairs.

Early in his tenure he transformed a fledging Quebec-based Canada Committee of thousands of volunteers into the widely respected national, non-partisan Canadian Unity Council, a charitable organization and a steadfast proponent and supporter of unity within the federation.

Through both good and difficult times he has motivated those volunteers, from all walks of life and every region of Canada, to take part in public affairs of the country thus helping Canadians better understand their rich diversity, flexible federal system and national institutions.

Under his leadership,
< the CUC has become one of the most innovative and the largest youth exchange organization outside the Canadian Government, allowing high school students to get to know their country, polish their knowledge of official languages, experience other cultures, while simultaneously building lasting friendships;
< the CUC's Centre for Research and Information on Canada has established solid credibility across the nation as a major provider of relevant and thorough analysis pertaining to the harmonious development of the federation;
< the CUC has expanded its programs so as to reach expatriates living and working abroad, foster associations, forge bridges with local counterparts and enhance a better knowledge of Canadian public affairs.

To maintain viability and success of these programs, Mr. Beaudoin has taken a lead role in expanding private sector support while nurturing steady and fruitful relations with different levels of government irrespective of partisan politics.

Mr. Beaudoin was appointed a member of the Order of Canada, July 1st, 1996. He was awarded the Commemorative medal marking the 125th Anniversary of Confederation and, in 2002, the Queen's Jubilee Medal.
